Tobacco use is the single leading preventable cause of death in the United States. NicVAX, our investigational vaccine to treat nicotine addiction and prevent smoking relapse, shows promising results in clinical studies. Data from our Phase 2b study demonstrates a correlation between antibody levels and patients’ ability to quit smoking and remain abstinent over long periods of time. We look forward to continuing our collaboration with smoking cessation experts in the development of this exciting approach to long-term smoking abstinence.

Nabi Biopharmaceuticals has a pipeline of biopharmaceutical products under development. These research and development pipeline products consist of several novel vaccines in various stages of development to prevent and/or treat nicotine addition and Gram-positive bacterial infections. A number of products are being studied in clinical trials, including experimental vaccines for nicotine addiction and Staphylococcus aureus infections. Collectively, these pipeline products represent an opportunity to help address the significant medical needs of millions of people around the world.

Staphylococci bacterial infections are a major cause of potentially deadly community and healthcare-associated infections. Staph is a highly adaptable bacteria that is becoming resistant to nearly all known antibiotics and causes severe and deadly infections in the hospital and the community. Our multi-targeted S. aureus vaccine, PentaStaph, intends to neutralize the major toxin arsenal that debilitates our immunity and elicit antibodies that allow our immune system to recognize and kill this invading organism. The PentaStaph approach is the smart way to combat this serious emerging Staphylococcus problem in the hospital and the community.
